In August 1994, I wrote my longest piece, a set of ten variations based on different facets of a dear friend of mine, Ann Nee. The recording in From the Heart featured seven of the variations, each describing a different characteristic in her. What particularly thrilled me was that she actually played this piece for another friend of hers, and the first thing the latter said after hearing it was Ann Nee's name, without even knowing that the entire piece was written for her in the first place! |

The theme to what is my longest composition so far. It really comprises of a simple five note motif that is echoed throughout all the variations of the composition. |

Although this piece was separately written nearly a year after the original composition of Variations, I often include it in as the an alternate IX Variation. There's a remarkable similarity to the original theme. |
